The wedding photography backdrops is perfect. And  asked if they wanted to frolic in this downtown waterfall. Of course they were game.

It was hot and sunny out. The water had to feel great.

I piggybacked off the shot. Look at these two love birds. They’re a photog’s dream — playful, adventurous and so in love.

The morning primp: Ro, in the makeup chair at 11 a.m. at her home in Lackawanna. She was wearing one of Tom’s button down shirts.

It’s all in the eyes: Ro’s cousin Jennifer.

Maggie (one of Ro’s junior bridesmaids) is only 12, but has the demeanor of an old English lady sipping tea and nibbling biscuits in the courtyard. She gives a lot of hugs and addresses people as “dahhling.” And yes, she’s also wearing one of Tom’s button down shirts.

Unsolicited wedding advice: Always drink mimosas before a church ceremony, but make sure you pee before you get to the altar.

It took a small army of bridesmaids to adjust Rose’s lace-up gown.

Pete, the father of the bride passed on a mimosa and opted for a Bud Light instead.

Pretty maids all in a row. In the garden outside the Basilica.

My bouquet of white gerbera daisies. Ro scoured thrift stores all over Buffalo to find funky personal pins to stick on every bouquet.

The scalloped trim on Ro’s  wedding dress had old world charm.

I caught Jennifer standing this way. We had all slipped off our heels midway through picture-taking and were standing barefoot in downtown Buffalo’s theater district.

The bridal party stampede. We were a tourist attraction.

Mel stretches out in the sun.

Crystal is one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. I wish I had known her when I lived back home.

    These are all beautiful pictures, Heidi! If you took these as an amateur, I can only imagine what you would do with formal training! Hell, I wouldn’t even think it was necessary!

    Ho – Just a few things…
    1. You are an amazing photographer! And you know I’m not just saying that…
    2. The 2nd pic is my favorite! One question – Was Tom wearing rubber bands on his ankles? That’s what it looks like on my phone.
    3. When did Pete switch from Busch to Bud???
    4. Finally…you captured that beautiful smile, I could almost hear the laugh just by looking at the pic. I miss that bust your gut laughing we used to do!

    2. Tom’s socks were apparently too tight. I love that you noticed this though. My mom said the same thing when she saw these pictures.

    3. I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING. I even brought it up to Rose at one point. When she mentioned that Pete’s only reception request was canned beer, I was like, “Busch, right?”

    4. Again, you hit the nail on the head. I had intended to mention Ro’s laugh in my wedding speech, but in the moment, forgot. Thank you for bringing it up.

    Oh Heidi–I knew I could count on you to post pics of Rosie’s special day! I was so sad that I had to miss seeing you all and seeing Ro–but I had to stand up in another wedding! The pictures are beautiful! Im so excited to have you capturing my day :o) Congrats to Ro and hope she’s enjoying her honeymoon! <3 you all!

Why Lance?

This blog is named after my old friend Sarah's manifestation of a dreamy Wyoming cowboy named Lance, because the word blog sounds like something that comes out of a person's nose.

About me

I'm a journalist who spends my Mondays through Fridays writing other people's stories, a chronic procrastinator who needs structure. I once quit my job to write a book and like most writers, I made up excuses why I couldn't keep at it.

My boyfriend fiancé husband Joe likes to sleep in late on the weekends, but since we have a kid now that happens less than he'd like.

Before Henry and Chip, I used to spend my mornings browsing celebrity tabloid websites while our dog snored under the covers. Now I hide my computer in spots my feral children can't reach because everything I own is now broken, stained or peed on.

I created Lance in an attempt to better spend my free time. I thought it might jump start a second attempt at writing a novel.

It hasn't. And my free time is gone.

But I'm still here writing.

I'm 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 and I've yet to get caught up in something else, which is kind of a big deal for a chronic procrastinator.
